About The Position

St. Mary’s High School in Annapolis, Maryland, is seeking a part-time Main Office Receptionist. The Main Office Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for students, parents, faculty, and visitors at St. Mary’s High School. This position supports the daily operations of the main office by providing professional receptionist services, maintaining a welcoming environment, and assisting with administrative and attendance-related responsibilities. This is a part-time 10-month position with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary receptionist for the school by greeting visitors, screening guests, issuing security passes, and directing individuals to the appropriate offices or services.
  • Maintain a professional, welcoming, and orderly atmosphere in the main office for students, staff, parents, and visitors.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and courteously, directing calls and messages to the appropriate individuals.
  • Assist students, teachers, parents, and visitors by providing accurate information and support as needed.
  • Place the telephone system on auto-answer mode only when absolutely necessary.
  • Monitor and update the school’s electronic telephone greeting to reflect schedule changes, holidays, school closings, and other important announcements in a timely manner.
  • Support the Attendance Manager, as needed, with attendance-related tasks and responsibilities.
  • Operate and maintain standard office equipment, including fax machines, Scantron equipment, copiers, scanners, and postage machines.
  • Maintain adequate postage supplies and assist with outgoing mail preparation.
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail promptly and efficiently.
  • Prepare student information packets and materials for orientation programs and other school events.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or school administration.
