About The Position

Work as part of a team in providing a courteous, efficient, safe and rewarding educational environment for all students. This role involves managing communication systems, maintaining office order, handling records, and supporting administrative staff and students.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Training as a clerk secretary or willingness to be trained as such
  • Experience working with students in an authoritative role

Responsibilities

  • Operate the switchboard and other communication systems, when assigned, in an efficient manner, giving courteous and prompt assistance to callers.
  • Maintain the work area in a clean, orderly, and functional manner.
  • Compile, copy, collate and bind printed materials as directed.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of student and staff records and behavior.
  • Understand and utilize technology available, along with all necessary office equipment (calculators, copiers, fax machines, etc.).
  • Maintain all records of the office including all bookkeeping that may be required.
  • Greet visitors and persons entering the building in a friendly manner; show same attitude to fellow employees, and always look for ways to assist the team.
  • Answer telephones, relay messages, transfer calls, manage communications to appropriate individuals, and deal with all fellow staff members in a professional and personable manner.
  • Manage mail and other deliveries as required, both receipt (sorting & distribution) and disbursement, making sure necessary supplies are on hand.
  • Process all forms/information and submit to central office on a timely basis.
  • Assist substitutes with assignments, information, and needed supplies.
  • Make copies, produce reports and create documents for others as needed.
  • Take responsibility for bulletin boards in office; post schedules and menus.
  • Support administrator with all facets of the office by being punctual, staying on task, and always striving for professional growth.
  • Assist administrator/supervisor with programs such as banquets, honors programs, etc.
  • Enter and maintain accurate information on EMIS system or other data management systems.
  • Provide assistance to staff and students that may include occasional exposure to blood and bodily fluid.
  • Provide assistance to staff and students that may include occasional interaction among unruly children.
  • Organize, secure and distribute student medications as per administrative direction and policy.
  • Comply with all Plain Local Board of Education policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
