About The Position

Serve as the student leadership assistant to the Mail & Spirit Store Retail & Service Manager by supporting the daily operations of the Mailroom. This position leads mailroom procedures, campus mail runs, documentation, inventory management, scheduling, reporting, technology systems, and process improvements while providing operational support to the Spirit Store as needed. This student leadership position requires initiative, professionalism, accountability, and sound judgment. The Operations Student Lead supports efficient department operations through training, documentation, process improvement, inventory accuracy, and operational systems while leading by example.

  • Ability to provide backup leadership for Spirit Store operations and support department needs during the manager’s absence.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Mail & Spirit Store Retail & Service Manager to support daily operations, implement improvements, and provide recommendations for efficiency.
  • Serve as the lead student employee and primary point person for mailroom operations, campus mail procedures, and departmental processes.
  • Provide backup leadership support for Spirit Store operations and assist with maintaining consistent retail operations.
  • Train, mentor, and cross-train student employees while developing and maintaining departmental documentation, SOPs, and training materials to promote consistency, accuracy, and operational excellence.
  • Assist with onboarding, scheduling, and team communication.
  • Serve as a resource for department procedures, software systems, reporting tools, and operational workflows.
  • Lead inventory management efforts through organization, auditing, reconciliation, and data analysis to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Utilize spreadsheets, Square, online store systems, mailroom software, and reporting tools to analyze data and support operational decisions.
  • Support technology improvements, digital workflows, and assigned projects that enhance department efficiency and customer service.
  • Collaborate with student leaders, resolve operational concerns, and exercise sound judgment to maintain effective Spirit Store and Mailroom operations.
  • Provide leadership support during the manager’s absence when appropriate.
