About The Position

Under immediate supervision, is responsible for processing, receiving, and delivering mail, packages, and other materials; performs related duties as required.

Requirements

Completion of the twelfth school grade.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

A certificate of high school equivalence (GED) will be accepted in lieu of a high school diploma.

Responsibilities

Delivers, collects, and processes mail (U.S., Inter-office, U.P.S., express, etc.)
Sorts mail for distribution according to department, division, etc.
Weighs, applies postage, sorts, and bands local and out-of-town mail for delivery to U.S. Post Office
Prepares and wraps packages to be mailed or delivered
Checks outgoing mail to ensure that the correct mail bar code is used to allow for proper billing to client agency
Picks up mail from U.S. Post Office
Operates offline peripheral equipment such as forms burster, decollator, folder, and mechanical inserter
Operates electronic mailing equipment such as postage meter, bulk mail machine, or automatic letter opening equipment
Distributes output reports and forms
Picks up or delivers messages, mail, packages, supplies, and other materials
Loads and unloads packages, supplies, equipment, wastewater samples, parts, and other items as appropriate
Reads instruction labels on packages, requisition orders, and sales slips in order to determine the proper description of items and delivery locations
Maintains various records, logs, forms, and other documents as warranted
Operates a motor vehicle to pick up and deliver mail and messages
May perform other clerical duties such as copying, filing, performing routine data entry functions or incidental typing, answering the telephone, and maintaining supplies and forms
Assists in taking inventory of supplies needed
May operate some type of equipment or machinery in the performance of job duties when lifting or moving heavy items or equipment
