About The Position

The County of San Diego Department of General Services - Mail Services has current openings for Mail Carriers! Interviews will take place the week of November 16th, 2026, and JOB OFFERs will be made the week of November 23rd 2026. The Department of General Services (DGS) is responsible for mail services for the County of San Diego. Mail Services provides complete mailing services to over 410 Mail Stops, County department's mail in excess of 5.6 million pieces annually, including express mail, special service mail, and interoffice correspondence. Mail Services is responsible for mailing these pieces and works with the United States Postal Service (USPS) to take advantage of postal discounts available to high volume business mailers. Mail Carriers are responsible for an assigned mail delivery route and drive mid to large size vans (i.e., Ford Transit 350 XL) on a daily basis. Mail Carriers operate specialized machines and computer programs to process mail and deliver mail to various County mail stations and the U.S. Post Office. Incumbents in this class operate automated mail sorting and processing machines within the mail center, and perform related work.

Requirements

• One (1) year, full-time experience sorting, processing and delivering inter-office and U.S. mail.
• Experience must have included operation of mail processing equipment.
• Undergo a background check (including fingerprinting).
• Undergo a pre-employment medical screening.
