About The Position

Floyd County is looking for a Part-Time Mail Carrier! The purpose of this classification is to ensure the efficient, accurate, and timely processing and delivery of internal and external mail for county departments, supporting effective communication and daily government operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Picks up internal and external mail from multiple county buildings and the post office on a scheduled route.
  • Sorts incoming and outgoing mail accurately by department, destination, and priority level.
  • Delivers mail promptly to designated county offices to support daily operations.
  • Operates postage equipment to process outgoing mail and apply correct postage.
  • Transports outgoing mail to the post office in a timely and secure manner.
  • Maintains records or logs of mail collection and delivery activities as required.
  • Ensures proper handling, confidentiality, and security of sensitive or official documents.
  • Performs routine vehicle checks and follows safe driving practices while completing mail routes.
