About The Position

Responsible for the independent operation of the MRI equipment achieving high-quality images, maintaining an optimal level of patient care, while working with patients of all ages. Responsible for screening all patients and staff entering into zone 3 and 4 to ensure magnet safety. This position is bonus eligible.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • ARRT registered in Radiology & MRI; OR ARRT registered in MRI; OR ARMRIT-American Registry of MRI certification
  • BLS
  • Proficient computer skills (database)
  • Data entry skills
  • Mathematical skills

Responsibilities

  • Performs all procedures proficiently and strives to maintain high quality, including proper positioning, choosing appropriate coils, and thorough knowledge of scanning protocols.
  • Completes imaging studies in a timely manner, charges appropriately, and takes them to the radiologist for interpretation.
  • Identifies patients using two patient identifiers.
  • Communicates with patient and/or medical staff concerning MR safety questionnaire and other pertinent clinical history.
  • Obtains completed questionnaire and proper history to ensure magnet safety for patients entering the department.
  • Communicates with appropriate medical staff any sedation needs of the patient.
  • Informs patients and families of delays.
  • Prepares scan room for procedures using approved cleaning protocols.
  • Discards sharps appropriately and maintains an appropriate level of supplies and linen in rooms.
  • Prepares and administers contrast materials associated with MRI procedures within scope of practice as prescribed by a physician or in approved Radiology protocol.
  • Implements emergency procedures as needed.
  • Performs department and hospital related computer functions pertinent to the job.
  • Enters and records all data accurately and promptly.
  • Exhibits competency in performing quality control tasks associated with equipment and procedures to ensure standards are met.
  • Stays abreast of organizational, affiliate, and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift.
  • Provides clinical instruction to staff technologists and students.
  • Prepares staff schedules to ensure department is staffed properly and coordinates daily workflow.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
