About The Position

Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) is seeking a Macomb County 4-H Program Coordinator to provide leadership and oversight for the growth and management of local 4-H programs, volunteers, and youth participants. This role, supporting the Children & Youth Institute (CYI), involves recruiting and training volunteers, identifying opportunities for program promotion and expansion, and strengthening public understanding of 4-H and MSU Extension programs. The coordinator will build new partnerships to deliver programs within schools and community groups, with a focus on reaching youth in Macomb County through established and new programs. Direct programming with youth will occur, but the primary focus is on partnership development and program expansion. The position requires conducting needs assessments, leading local 4-H groups in financial management, and expanding Extension programs to unreached populations. Primary program delivery will be through in-school, after-school, and short-term special interest groups. The coordinator will also be responsible for communicating program information to supervisors and leadership, collaborating on program plans and reports, and participating in professional development. The role involves creating, promoting, and representing MSU Extension in a manner that reflects collegial connection with the community and the university. A flexible work environment may be utilized, with an expectation to work from a MSU Extension County office. This is an off-dated position funded for one year from the date of hire with possible extension contingent upon funding renewal.
