Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds required.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time; up to 80% of day.
  • Ability to become qualified to perform Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as measurements, diameters, and other basic mechanical calculations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Nice To Haves

  • Accreditation from technical school or applicable skilled trades program preferred.
  • Ability to become a Certified Forklift Operator.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricating new and replacement parts for durable medical equipment by utilizing the appropriate machinery within each workstation; making adjustments as necessary to produce parts within specifications; assisting in unloading received materials; operating within standard operating procedures (SPOs); completing daily work and maintenance documentation.
  • Applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
  • Machining parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
  • Reading and interpreting machining instructions, job orders, and blueprints to determine dimensional specifications, sequences of operations, setups, and tooling requirements.
  • Selecting and setting cutting speeds, feed rates, depths of cuts, and cutting tools according to machining instructions or knowledge of metal properties.
  • Ensuring the efficiency and quality of parts by checking accuracy to meet specifications; performing preventive maintenance on equipment and maintaining inventory; adhering to ISO and FDA regulations.
  • Measuring, examining, and ensuring conformance to specifications through the use of measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and fixed or telescoping gauges.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment by attending safety training; turning off and locking out equipment not in use; cleaning and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Handling all other duties as assigned in order to contribute to overall success of the company.
