About The Position

The Inside/Outside Machinist is responsible for the repair and maintenance of pumps, hydraulic systems, auxiliary systems, and diesel engines within a marine environment. The ideal candidate will plan and accomplish goals under the direct supervision of the Machinist Supervisor. Responsible for installing, repairing, overhauling and maintaining pumps, hydraulic systems, auxiliary systems, propulsion systems and diesel engines. Working knowledge of manual lathes, manual vertical and horizontal milling machines, manual vertical and horizontal boring mills, and line boring equipment. Ensure that vessel projects are accomplished safely, efficiently and within shipyard policies and guidelines as well as all applicable local, State and Federal codes. Removal and reinstallation of conventional shaft and propeller systems, and controlled pitch propeller systems. Removal and reinstallation of various rudder assemblies including rudder stock, pintles, etc. Rigging oversight to support required work scope. Repair, overhaul and maintain shipboard mechanical systems and equipment. Take precision measurements and machine parts to specification when required. Provide machine shop services for facility equipment as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • A minimum of five years related experience and/or training
  • Working knowledge of manual lathes, manual vertical and horizontal milling machines, manual vertical and horizontal boring mills, and line boring equipment.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
