About The Position

Aerospace Dynamics International, Inc. (ADI) manufactures machined parts and assemblies for the commercial and military aerospace industries. It offers structural components, caps, panels, bulkheads, fittings, longerons, spars, chords, wing ribs, thrust reversers, structural machine parts, manufacturing tooling and stretch form blocks. ADI was acquired by PCC in April 2014. The company has received significant capital investments since the acquisition and has a highly positive growth trajectory ahead. Comprising seven facilities on its campus in Valencia, CA, ADI has over 240 full-time employees on staff. This position is for a night shift Machinist. Hours are from 6pm to 6am Monday thru Friday. Additional OT may be available. Hours may vary based on company needs. Training on weekday day shift will be required for a minimum of 90 days. Weekday day shift hours are from 6am to 6pm Monday thru Friday. Additional OT may be available. Hours may vary based on company needs. Gantry experience highly preferred. Machinists demonstrate advanced ability to set up, run and troubleshoot all site specific CNC and conventional machines and machining processes. Machinists should have experience working with a variety of CNC and conventional machines. These individuals are also able to design and manufacture complex tooling. In addition to machining responsibilities, all machinists are expected to provide leadership and mentoring to lower level machinists. This includes providing assistance and training as needed. This position typically requires 5 or more years of machinist experience.

Requirements

  • Advanced competencies in machine platform operation in order to demonstrate full cross training flexibility.
  • Advanced ability in job setup and verification of all tooling, program & machine platforms.
  • Mentoring and leadership skills.
  • Complex trouble shooting skills applied to a wide range of production processes.
  • Advanced understanding of CNC programing, editing and tooling creation.
  • Intermediate CAD/CAM
  • Position requires the ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Proven experience as a machinist with proficiency in CNC programming and operation of CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints accurately and interpret GD&T specifications.
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or general CAD tools for design review purposes.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Gantry experience highly preferred.
  • Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Operate 3-5 axis CNC machines and conventional mills and lathes to produce complex aerospace parts.
  • Provide the site with full cross training flexibility in the operation of machine platforms.
  • Without assistance, troubleshoot and provide assistance to lower-level machinists.
  • Design, manufacture and validate tooling for a number of production needs.
  • Mentor lower-level machinists as well as provide area leadership.
  • Set up and operate CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines, ensuring optimal performance and precision.
  • Program CNC equipment using CAM programming software and interpret blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical drawings to produce accurate parts.
  • Conduct precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions against specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery, troubleshoot issues promptly, and document all repairs or adjustments made during shifts.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and tooling to assemble components or modify parts as needed for production requirements.
  • Apply electrical discharge machining techniques when necessary for complex or hard-to-machine materials.
  • Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols related to welding, plastics injection molding, and the operation of forklifts or other equipment.
