About The Position

Originally founded in 1949, ASC has been serving the metal-forming industry exclusively as a machinery engineering and manufacturing company for over 70 years. ASC specializes in rollforming machinery, tooling, and associated equipment utilized for metal processing. ASC is a vertically integrated machinery design and manufacturing company. ASC performs virtually all steps of the manufacturing process. Its primary business is providing equipment for the steel construction industry and the two-piece food and beverage can industry. Leaders in the steel construction industry demand ASC machines. Industries using ASC machines include pre-engineered buildings, metal building components, steel decking, structural beams and grain bin manufacturers. ASC supplies metal-forming equipment to other industries such as lighting, garage door, stamping, heating and air-conditioning.

Requirements

  • Able to understand, read, and write NC codes and make program adjustments on the floor
  • Able and willing to train others and share knowledge demonstrates leadership characteristics
  • Able to proficiently operate most machine shop equipment
  • Able to fabricate and modify tooling such as jigs, fixtures, and template to produce parts
  • Possesses advanced machine math skills
  • Able too travel in support of customer field services
  • Prior experience with mills, lathes, CNC, REQUIRED.

Responsibilities

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions.
