About The Position

Airtomic Ducting Solutions, located in Franklin, Indiana, is a growing provider of ducting aerospace solutions. Our dynamic team works closely together to support our customers and ensure the success of our business. The machinist is a key member of the manufacturing team in a high mix, lower volume environment, reporting to the Operations Supervisor. Airtomic is an FAA Repair Station, and this position performs a variety of machining tasks from repair machining to tooling needed for production use. Reading and understanding routing instructions are critical to ensure product safety. The ideal candidate enjoys problem-solving, working in a fast-paced environment, and is self-directed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Experience working with thin-walled material to (grind in square/angles, remove dents, prep for welding, forming/bending)
  • 3 years’ experience working with hand tools
  • 3 years' of recent experience working with manual mills and lathes with Acu-Rite mill power CNC Retrofit
  • Must be able to read engineering blueprints and approved technical data
  • Knowledge of tooling speeds and feeds, offsets
  • Ability to write and prove out programs for Acu-Rite CNC mill retrofit
  • Ability to setup and operate manual mills and lathes
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position
  • Ability to organize priorities, daily tasks and complete actions on time, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic and leadership ability
  • Must be able to show proof of legally ability to work in United States
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to pass FAA drug screen and background check

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace / Defense industry experience a plus
  • FAA A&P certificate is a strong plus
  • Experience working in a manufacturing facility
  • Experience working with hand tools

Responsibilities

  • Acts proactively supporting safety at all times.
  • Use machining skills and equipment to produce tooling and fixtures for production use.
  • Use inspection tools / gages to ensure production tools and parts meet drawing requirements / production needs.
  • Ensure machine PM are complete and equipment is in good working order for safe operation.
  • Bead blast product as required.
  • In process visual inspection to a check fixture.
  • Ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues.
  • Ability to adapt, communicate, be decisive, be dependable, and take initiative.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with coworkers.
  • Ensure hazardous materials are properly labeled, stored, and handled for proper disposal.
  • Polishing and basic blending of product.
  • Ensures products adhere to quality standards.
  • As required, performs work assignments as directed.
  • Cold Work metal tubes, ducts, and manifolds to conform to check fixtures.
  • Build inspection fixtures under the guidance of a Level III Bench Mechanic.
