About The Position
dormakaba is seeking a 2nd Shift (2:00PM - 10:30PM) Machinist II based in Indianapolis, IN. The Machinist II will perform machine setups, tool changes, and make adjustments as necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Extensive experience operating, setups, tool changes, etc.
- Understanding of shop math, blueprint reading/comprehension, and of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience using precision measuring instruments
- Ability to perform advanced quality inspections
- Must be able to sit, stand, alternate sitting or standing at will, and walk
- Must be able to use hands for seizing, holding, grasping, turning, etc. as well as fine manipulation: touching, picking, pinching, or otherwise working primarily with fingers
- Must be able to push, pull, reach overhead & at or below shoulder level
- Must be able to stoop, crouch, kneel, climb, and balance
- Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Must have near & far visual acuity with or without correction
- Must also be able to effectively communicate within a manufacturing environment
- Must have the ability to maneuver in a manufacturing facility

- Documented manufacturing education/training
- Experience in applying similar quality control concepts
- Computer proficiency
- Lean skills
Responsibilities
- Follow operation instructions; operate machine according to standard operating instructions
- Monitor and maintain equipment safely, load stock as required, keep the work area clean and organized, and empty scrap hoppers as needed.
- Document and inspect quality of work per Quality Assurance Inspection Procedure (QAIP)
- Use micrometers, height gauges, calipers, and comparator
