In this role, you’ll work independently and as part of a skilled team to fabricate high‑precision parts that keep our manufacturing operations running smoothly.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a technical field or 10+ years of machining/manufacturing experience.
  • Strong ability to read engineering drawings and prints.
  • Advanced part measurement and inspection skills.
  • Experience with manual machining and CNC operations.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems (bearings, gears, cams, slides, pneumatics/hydraulics).
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft applications.

Nice To Haves

  • CNC programming experience (machine interface or external software).
  • Experience with SolidWorks, SolidCam, AutoCAD, or VectorPoint is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and pneumatic machine controls.
  • Familiarity with TPM and preventive maintenance processes.
  • Knowledge of window production machinery is a plus (not required).

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to machine parts within tight tolerances (.0002"–.0005").
  • Use surface grinders (6" & 14") to achieve flatness, squareness, and perpendicularity to .0002".
  • Machine complex features including compound tapers; perform tool grinding for form cutting & sharpening.
  • Operate manual Bridgeport‑style mills, lathes, and surface grinders.
  • Use advanced math (geometry, trigonometry, speeds/feeds calculations) for precision machining.
  • Measure and verify parts with calipers, micrometers, indicators, bore gauges, gauge blocks, and other precision tools.
  • Calibrate and maintain measuring devices.
  • Assemble and disassemble complex tooling.
  • Verify machine alignment and perform routine maintenance to ensure proper performance.
  • Dress grinding wheels and cutting tools.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Provide guidance or instruction to others in the tool shop when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized workstation.
  • Utilize Machinery’s Handbook and work with a variety of materials.
  • Use support equipment including: Bandsaws Vertical & horizontal tool sharpeners Twist drill sharpeners Pedestal grinders Hand‑polishing tools
