About The Position

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, blueprints, and quality control standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Work requires knowledge of machining, shop mathematics, and shop practices, plus 5 years’ experience.
  • Must have a valid OSHA forklift license and hold 1C and 3A hoisting license.
  • Demonstrate accuracy in all documentation and job reporting.
  • Be dependable, work well with others, and focused on the job being done.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage time, multi-task, and pay close attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Capable of following direction.
  • Take responsibility for achieving production efficiency, quality of product and reports discrepant material immediately.
  • Demonstrate customer focus by seeking out, understanding, and responding to the needs of both internal and external customers.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and communicate openly and honestly with others.
  • Solve problems proactively and contribute to continuously improving the process/product.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in environments with noise, heat, or dust.
  • Regularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the day.

Responsibilities

  • Work from drawings, specifications, and process plans; use a variety of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, gauges, indicators and all Vernier instruments for exact measurements.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate various types of milling machines, boring mills, engine lathes, tracer lathes, and drill presses; to perform a wide variety of operations on a diversified line of close tolerance and finish requirements.
  • Ability to run at least 3 production jobs on 2 different machining centers with minimal supervision (does not include small machine tools).
  • Select speeds and feeds, operational sequences, and tooling for required operations.
  • Perform recognized operations such as turning, boring, reaming, facing, threading etc., on standardized work.
  • Grind tools, spin blocks, rollers, rings, etc.
  • Responsible for equipment, material, work and keeping the work area clean and organized.
  • Proceed with minimum or no supervision and direction.
  • Do all trim, cut out and cut off work with limited supervision and minimum rework.
  • Be neat and orderly around work area.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in order to complete other tasks.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge and follow all of the PPE requirements.
  • Perform the duties of 3C machinists.
