About The Position

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, blueprints, and quality control standards.

Requirements

High School diploma or G.E.D.
Work requires knowledge of machining, shop mathematics, and shop practices, plus 5 years’ experience.
Must have a valid OSHA forklift license and hold 1C and 3A hoisting license.
Demonstrate accuracy in all documentation and job reporting.
Be dependable, work well with others, and focused on the job being done.
Reliable transportation.
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Ability to effectively manage time, multi-task, and pay close attention to detail.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Capable of following direction.
Take responsibility for achieving production efficiency, quality of product and reports discrepant material immediately.
Demonstrate customer focus by seeking out, understanding, and responding to the needs of both internal and external customers.
Maintain a positive attitude and communicate openly and honestly with others.
Solve problems proactively and contribute to continuously improving the process/product.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Comfortable working in environments with noise, heat, or dust.
Regularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the day.

Responsibilities

Work from drawings, specifications, and process plans; use a variety of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, gauges, indicators and all Vernier instruments for exact measurements.
Set up, adjust, and operate various types of milling machines, boring mills, engine lathes, tracer lathes, and drill presses; to perform a wide variety of operations on a diversified line of close tolerance and finish requirements.
Ability to run at least 3 production jobs on 2 different machining centers with minimal supervision (does not include small machine tools).
Select speeds and feeds, operational sequences, and tooling for required operations.
Perform recognized operations such as turning, boring, reaming, facing, threading etc., on standardized work.
Grind tools, spin blocks, rollers, rings, etc.
Responsible for equipment, material, work and keeping the work area clean and organized.
Proceed with minimum or no supervision and direction.
Do all trim, cut out and cut off work with limited supervision and minimum rework.
Be neat and orderly around work area.
Perform other duties as necessary in order to complete other tasks.
Demonstrate a working knowledge and follow all of the PPE requirements.
Perform the duties of 3C machinists.
