Working under the direction and supervision of the General Foreman, the Boring Mill Machinist sets up, maintains, and operates large and heavy CNC machine tools to tap, bore, and ream metal parts.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years programming CNC machines using G codes is necessary.
  • Familiarity with FANUC is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to program and operate a horizontal boring mill is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of all tools and equipment and their use and care.

  • Experience using CAD/CAM software is an asset.
  • Self motivated to manage time effectively and productively, with minimal supervision.
  • Communication skills to read, write, listen, and speak in a clear and concise manner to individuals at various levels.
  • Interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others.
  • Time management, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to measure sizes and distances accurately.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 20 kg.
  • Advanced knowledge of general safety practices and an excellent safety record.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various machine shop equipment such as: Lathes, Mills, Boring Mills, Drills, Saws, and Machining Centers.
  • Study charts, drawings, sample parts to determine the machining operation required.
  • Read and interpret blueprint.
  • Regularly check parts for defects and maintain/repair equipment as required.
  • Write and edit programs using FANUC software.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment so as to not endanger oneself or others.
  • Comply to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures, without any deviance, including wearing all appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Perform other duties as required.
