About The Position

Moog’s Military Aircraft Group is excited to hire a cohort of 8–10 Machinist Apprentices to begin in Fall 2026. This structured apprenticeship program is designed to develop the next generation of skilled machinists through a combination of classroom learning and hands-on experience. This is more than a job; it’s a long-term career opportunity. Apprentices will join us at a pivotal time as we transition from our current shop floor into a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, gaining exposure to modern equipment, evolving processes, and advanced aerospace manufacturing. The program is approximately 30 months long, with 5,000 hours of hands-on experience. Upon successful completion, apprentices will transition to a full-time Machinist role. The program partners with Erie Community College (ECC) for coursework.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work any shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) as required by the program
  • Willingness to balance work schedule with coursework requirements

Nice To Haves

  • At least 6 months of experience or exposure to a manufacturing or production environment
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on work
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Flexibility to rotate shifts based on training needs
  • Ability to make up work time when coursework conflicts with scheduled shifts
  • Commitment to completing both on-the-job and academic requirements

Responsibilities

  • Train alongside experienced machinists in a precision manufacturing environment
  • Learn to operate CNC and manual machining equipment
  • Develop skills in blueprint reading, measurements, and geometric tolerancing
  • Gain experience across multiple shifts and areas to build well-rounded capabilities
  • Contribute to real production work supporting critical aerospace programs
  • Be part of a team supporting the transition to a new manufacturing facility
  • Complete approximately 10–11 courses at Erie Community College (typically 2 per semester)
  • Enroll in ECC’s Industrial Technology program (degree completion optional)
  • Participate in online Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) training
