About The Position

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or current progress toward an approved equivalent.
Prior machining experience is not required.
Demonstrate a willingness to learn, dependable attendance, attention to detail, mechanical interest, and the ability to follow safety instructions.
The apprentice will learn primarily by job shadowing experienced machinists, observing machining processes, asking questions, and completing assigned tasks under appropriate guidance.
The apprentice must also complete applicable cell certification.

Nice To Haves

Coursework or demonstrated interest in manufacturing, machining, industrial technology, mathematics, or mechanical trades is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Gain hands-on exposure to the machinist trade primarily through job shadowing, observation, and guided practice with experienced machinists.
Work alongside experienced machinists to learn safe machining practices, production standards, and proven techniques.
Learn to set up and operate manual mills, manual lathes, CNC mills, CNC lathes, and multi-axis machines.
Read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, work instructions, and basic machining specifications.
Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools to inspect completed parts.
Load materials, select tooling, set machine offsets, and assist with machine setups under appropriate guidance.
Monitor machines and make approved adjustments to maintain product quality and efficient operation.
Identify defective parts, tool wear, and equipment concerns and report them promptly.
Complete required production, quality, safety, and apprenticeship documentation.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and follow all safety and quality requirements.
Perform increasingly complex machining assignments as skills, knowledge, and proficiency are developed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
