About The Position

Through this Apprenticeship, you will learn manufacturing skills and gain working knowledge and experience on a variety of CNC machines and controls. The apprentice will receive on-the-job training as well as related supplemental instruction with partners at Lower Columbia College to become a qualified journey-level Machinist.

Requirements

Applicant shall be a high school graduate or equivalent and provide proof of educational attainment through such means as diploma, transcripts, or official GED or High School Equivalency test results.

Properly uses basic measuring tools (calipers, micrometer, indicators, etc.).

Follows instructions and demonstrates strong attention to detail.
Communicates well verbally and in writing.
Mechanically inclined, with good manual dexterity.
Age: Minimum of 18 years of age.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.

Responsibilities

Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and informs lead person of discrepancies.
Thoroughly inspects first part run.
Meets job standard times with minimal supervision.
Recognizes production problems and informs supervisor.
Understanding of basic machine language (G and M codes).
Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using standard measuring tools.
Reads and interprets manufacturing / Engineering drawings.
Performs miscellaneous duties in the machine shop as directed.
Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of equipment and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
