About The Position

This position is responsible for adhering to all engineering instructions, standard operating procedures, and departmental procedures. The Machinist 1 will perform machine setups on various machines including manual lathes, manual mills, CNC lathes, CNC mills, and Waterjet machines. They will maintain a clean and safe work area, perform preventative maintenance, and interpret blueprints and drawings. Knowledge of machine safety, job orders, standard measuring tools, verifying gage calibration, and machining fixturing is expected. Familiarity with CNC programming languages (G/M Codes and Mazatrol) and the ability to create and edit programs are also required. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years’ experience working with Manual and/or CNC machines.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Math skills and ability to use handheld measuring tools.
  • Attendance and Punctuality: Be at the workstation ready to start work at the beginning of the work period and remain on the job until the close of the work period. Be punctual for all appointments. In areas where required, remain on the job until a replacement is present.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all engineering instruction, standard operation procedures, and all departmental procedures.
  • Able to perform machine set ups on manual lathes, manual mills, CNC lathes, CNC mills, and Waterjet machines for all programs and part types including production and/or engineering parts with moderate to light assistance.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on machines as required per the company P.M. Program.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings for all processes and programs.
  • Knowledge of Machine Safety, Job orders, Standard measuring tools (Micrometers, Calipers, Bore Gages, Protractors, Height Gages and Depth Gages), Verifying gage calibration, and Machining fixturing for setups.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming/languages (G/M Codes and Mazatrol) and knowledge of how to create and edit programs.
  • All other duties as assigned.
