About The Position

This role involves planning and executing machining operations by studying work orders, blueprints, and engineering plans. The Machinist will operate and set up mills and lathes, ensuring adherence to international standards and maintaining quality specifications. Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, inter-shift communication, and documentation of production and quality logs. The position also requires staying updated on job knowledge through educational opportunities and contributing to organizational goals by adding value to accomplishments.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Five years experience as a CNC Operator II
  • CNC Mill/Lathe experience necessary
  • Manual Mill/Lathe experience necessary

Responsibilities

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Operates mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to international standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing all machining operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions in the program; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; replacing worn tools.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Follow quality standards to ensure parts are to the customer and company standards.
  • Use all hand gages, run CMM and understand the reports.
  • Other responsibilities may be added or assumed based on necessity.
