About The Position

The CNC Programmer and Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating conventional, special purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate non-metallic part. The CNC Programmer and Operator uses Mastercam and/or Mastercam for SolidWorks. Requirements

  • Due to U.S. State Department restrictions on access to space technology, candidates must be "U.S. Persons" as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) 22 CFR 120-130
  • 4 - 8 years of related experience and/or training
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software and other documentation programs
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, diagrams, and procedure manuals
  • Adequately write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Requires a flexible and cooperative attitude, which includes when asked to perform other duties or tasks that are not listed within this job description but within the scope of this position
  • Communication skills both written and orally in the English language
  • Requires excellent safety practices, which includes keeping a clean work area
  • Multi-task with great attention to detail to tasks ensuring industry standards for a quality product and customer expectation
  • Effectively process change through RMB feedback and reviews
  • Requires personal responsibility and accountability meeting workmanship standards with little supervision to complete assignments

  • Must understand and follow oral and written instructions of the Aerospace Value Stream Manager, Manager’s representative, or customer

Responsibilities

  • Create and edit CNC programs in G-code or with CAM system
  • Program complex mold, dies, and trim tooling using CAD data from engineering
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, e.g.: speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media
  • Effectively presents before groups of customers and/or employees representing RMB
  • Decipher mathematical concepts, such as: probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane
  • Critically think through problem-solving and respond to a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists
  • Job preparation: gathering materials, tooling to run specific job, verify tooling is available, and pre-kit for upcoming jobs
  • Set-up: load material and establish part origin and tool length offsets
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding-fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, e.g.: mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers
  • Sets up and operates machines for a trial-run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, to which, adjusts machine controls or control media as required
  • 1st article run of parts and follow-up adjustments as needed
  • Uses micrometers and calipers to measure: will mark and scribe dimensions for reference points on material or work piece for guides for subsequent machining
  • Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance
  • Collaborates with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly issues
  • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications
