About The Position

Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is seeking a CNC Machinist for their 2nd shift team, based in the Jackson, MS facility. This role involves rotating through lean cell functions, performing visual and physical inspections using functional measuring equipment, and applying Statistical Process Control (SPC) knowledge for quality assurance. The machinist will interpret complex drawings, blueprints, and specifications, and be responsible for setting up and operating various machines and finishing equipment, including lathes, mills, drills (CNC & Manual), grinders (CNC), laps, and hones, while maintaining proper tolerances. Additional duties include returning tools to their proper location and cleaning the work area at the end of the shift, as well as performing sub-assembly operations such as installing pins, plugs, inserts, bearings, and other miscellaneous components. This position is classified as safety sensitive under DOT and FAA regulations, requiring a successful pre-employment drug test and ongoing drug and/or alcohol testing.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Machining certificate or Associate's degree in a technical field, OR a minimum of two (2) years of experience in machining.
  • CNC experience with lathes, mills, grinders, manual hone, or lap.
  • Applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158.
  • Successfully complete a DOT required pre employment drug test.
  • Remain subject to ongoing drug and/or alcohol testing, including random testing, in accordance with federal regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read and understand G & M code
  • Prior work experience using hone, lap, and grind equipment
  • Five years of precision machining experience

Responsibilities

  • Rotate through each lean cell function and rotation through other lean cells.
  • Perform visual and physical inspection of parts using functional measuring equipment.
  • Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) know how to detect an out-of-control condition as well as other problem-solving methodologies to ensure quality of product.
  • Interpret and work from complex drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Set up and operate distinct types of machines and finishing equipment (lathes, mills, drills; CNC & Manual, grinders, CNC grinders, laps, hones) without assistance and maintain proper tolerances.
  • Be responsible for returning all tools to their proper location at the end of the shift and cleaning work area.
  • Perform sub-assembly operations such as, installation of pins, plugs, inserts, bearings, miscellaneous components, etc.
