About The Position

We are searching for an experienced Machining Department Lead (1st Shift: 6:00am-2:30pm) to help manage personnel and oversee processes throughout machining. The Machining Department Lead assists the supervisor with supervision, work assignments, and training for all employees within the assigned department(s) and participates in shift transition activities and communication to ensure a productive and safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a team lead or equivalent role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years’ machining experience and mechanical aptitude; including basic troubleshooting, set-up experience, and basic QA capability.
  • Knowledge of machining processes, tolerances and tooling and ability to read/interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and shop math skills with demonstrated capability of using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Understanding of OSHA rules and regulations (i.e. lockout/tagout, machine guarding)
  • Computer literate with demonstrated working experience/knowledge in an ERP environment, and proficiency in MS Office Suite and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills with the ability to work with and motivate team members with varying levels of skill and ability.
  • Must be able read and write clearly and concisely in English and understand/follow written work instructions, product routings, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Highly motivated, resourceful, self-directed, and attentive to detail.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Primary Lead for assigned machining areas.
  • Working under direction of production supervisor, oversee and assign job duties to team members daily.
  • Ensure team members are working in a safe manner adhering to all safety policies.
  • Responsible for ensuring team members produce quality products that meet or exceed customer requirements and are shipped in a timely manner.
  • Inspect and measure finished products using calipers, veneers, and micrometers to meet quality assurance requirements.
  • Participate in daily management meetings, including shift change activities, to ensure a smooth transfer of production needs between the shifts.
  • Assist production supervisor with onboarding, training, and monitoring performance for all team members.
  • Exercise good judgement, serve as a positive model for the team members and promote a positive work environment free from harassment.
  • Participate in leadership training and meetings.
