About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical CNC Machinist / Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will bridge the gap between engineering concepts and physical production. You will be responsible for reviewing engineering work orders, interpreting complex blueprints, and fabricating parts in-house. This position requires a creative problem-solver who can think outside the box to reverse-engineer worn components, program advanced CNC machinery (including Mazak systems), and manually craft custom parts from a wide variety of materials.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of work-related experience in CNC programming, manual machining, or MRO maintenance machining.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Machining & Programming: CNC Turning, Milling, Lathe operations, Manual programming, and CAD/CAM software training.
  • Inspection: Mastery of precision measurement tools including micrometers, optical comparators, and surface plates.
  • Engineering Literacy: Advanced blueprint reading.
  • Heavy Operations: Basic rigging and safe material handling practices.
  • Critical Thinking: Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to "think outside the box" to manufacture complex, non-standard parts.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Active communication skills to collaborate effectively across the maintenance and engineering departments. Ability to work independently.
  • Time Management: Ability to maintain precision and composure under high-pressure situations with tight production deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal machinist apprenticeship or technical degree is a plus.
  • NIMS certification.
  • Specialized experience with Mazak programming is highly recommended.
  • MIG welding experience preferred but not necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering blueprints and technical drawings to determine material requirements and order raw stock as needed.
  • Partner closely with the engineering and maintenance teams to execute Maintenance & Repair Operations (MRO) work orders and determine if formal blueprinting is required for broken components.
  • Reverse-engineer broken or worn production parts (such as tear-out blocks, gauges, and cutter bodies) with or without existing drawings.
  • Program, set up, and operate both manual and CNC machinery (Lathes, Mills, and Turning centers). Utilize Mazak programming and CAD/CAM software to manufacture high-precision components.
  • Successfully machine and fabricate parts using a diverse range of materials, including cast-iron, steel, aluminum, metals, and industrial plastics.
  • Utilize advanced precision metrology instruments (micrometers, comparators, and surface plates).
  • Safely perform rigging operations to move heavy machinery, raw materials, and machinery components.
  • Ability to lift 40-50lbs
