About The Position

Alicat Scientific, Inc., a Tucson, Arizona-based manufacturer of flow and pressure instrumentation, is seeking a reliable Shop Operator to work hands-on with machined parts and support machining operations. The role involves assisting with lathes, horizontal mills, and hydraulic saws, with an opportunity to operate robot-fed vertical mills. It is presented as an entry point into machining, with opportunities for training, advancement, and internal promotion. Relocation to Tucson, Arizona 85743 is required before starting work.

The schedule is Friday through Sunday, 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., for a full 40-hour workweek, with potential overtime. The starting wage is $17.00–$19.00 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently and stand for extended periods.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Detail-oriented, accountable, and self-motivated.
• Willingness to learn, grow, and take ownership of the role.

Responsibilities

• Operate saws and prepare raw materials according to job specifications.
• Assist CNC machinists with machine setup and operation.
• Deburr and sand machined parts using tools and finishing equipment.
• Track inventory and material usage in logs and spreadsheets.
• Perform routine maintenance on saws and the workspace.
• Move materials safely using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop area.
• Follow company safety protocols and standard procedures.
