About The Position

Custom Engineering Co. is seeking full-time Machine Operators for first- and second-shift work at its Erie, Pennsylvania location. The company specializes in manufacturing large-scale metal fabrications and seeks candidates with steel-industry experience. The position pays up to $22.00 per hour, based on experience, with a $2.00 second-shift differential. The role offers exposure to industry expertise and experience that may support performance-based growth within the organization.

Requirements

• Prior machining experience.
• Knowledge of general machining practices.
• Knowledge of addition, subtraction, fractions, and decimals, and ability to calculate tooling speeds and feeds.
• Crane and forklift experience.
• Ability to read and understand documents and blueprints.
• Ability to use hand tools and measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and tape measures.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds to insert tooling and materials and use lifting devices.

Responsibilities

• Set up and remove workpieces from machines according to procedures.
• Use measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges, to verify that workpieces meet specified tolerances.
• Perform in-process inspections at machines and adjust offsets as needed to ensure workpiece conformance.
• Position and secure workpieces on machines using measuring instruments, holding devices, hand tools, and cranes.
• Review blueprints, layouts, sketches, and work orders to determine tolerances and work procedures.
• Recognize tooling types such as facemills, drills, and taps.
