Machine Operator
About The Position
The Machine Operator is responsible for the production and operational maintenance of a highly complex converting machine. Duties include setting up and operating the machine, troubleshooting, training, housekeeping, and crew maintenance in the designated department. The role processes material according to company specifications, maintains product quality, and accurately enters production data into production software. The operator also supports efficiency and output improvements, trains others on new production techniques as required, and works with production management to meet performance goals. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–4 years of machine operation experience.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of training methods for a production operation.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
- Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation.
- Attention to detail and focused concentration.
- Ability to complete tasks requiring a particular speed or productivity quota.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree or technical certificate preferred.
- Previous experience in a corrugated manufacturing facility preferred.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues on an assigned machine.
- Set up and operate the assigned machine.
- Process material through the machine according to company specifications.
- Enter production data accurately and appropriately in production software.
- Inspect and maintain product quality; promptly report non-conformances to production management.
- Organize the work area and move materials as required.
- Follow company policies and procedures, including safety requirements, and promptly report concerns to management to mitigate risks.
- Assist in developing production techniques that increase efficiency and output, implement them into production, and provide training as required.
- Promptly report mechanical or electrical concerns related to required machine maintenance.
- Work with the production management team to achieve performance goals and objectives.
- Complete special projects and assignments as business dictates.
