The Machine Operator maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. They operate various machines within the cell, making minor adjustments as necessary or notifying the Lead person or Set up person if a more significant adjustment is required. The operator maintains a clean machine and organized work area, performs preventative maintenance including lubricating machines when needed, and makes minor repairs while notifying maintenance for other maintenance needs. They perform a variety of tasks such as counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures, and transferring of parts. The role requires using measuring equipment to maintain close tolerances, following schedules and procedures, and adapting to cell and team concepts as well as cross-training. Ensuring all safety guards are in place and in good condition is crucial. The operator will also inspect work in progress using necessary equipment outlined in Quality or Work Instructions and is responsible for the quality of their own work. Forklift (i.e., powered industrial truck) operation is also a responsibility, along with all other assigned duties.
