We’re looking for an Operator who thrives in a team environment and is committed to excellence in every task. As an Operator, you’ll play a vital role in building and maintaining railways across Canada. You’ll operate one or more machines such as excavators, spikers, speed swings, loaders, or backhoes on railway tracks and adjacent areas, following operator manuals and safety standards. You’ll also perform daily inspections and minor repairs to ensure safe, efficient operation. Your dedication to stringent safety and operational standards ensures smooth, incident-free job execution.

Requirements

Minimum 6 months experience in railway or construction.
At least one season as a machine operator.
Class 5 Driver’s License required (Class 1 for boom truck operation).
Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Strong teamwork, communication skills, and commitment to safety.
Ability to work cycles, night shifts, and travel as required.

Nice To Haves

Safety certifications (First Aid, Fall Arrest, GEI, Forklift Loader, etc.) are an asset—we’ll train you!

Responsibilities

Operate specialized railway equipment (e.g., spiker, speed swing, loader, backhoe) as per operator manuals.
Perform daily walk-around inspections and minor repairs to keep machines safe and operational.
Complete log books, job briefings, and other required documentation.
Follow CROR compliance and company safety policies.
Assist with manual labour when needed.
Communicate effectively over radio and work collaboratively to meet productivity goals.
Other duties as assigned.
