About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for operating machines, such as those to blend ingredients into compounds for processing. The role requires the ability to troubleshoot, maintain, fabricate, support, and assist maintenance employees with repairs to production floor equipment. This is a temp-to-hire position with needed availability Monday-Friday from 6 am to 6 pm, with occasional overtime and Saturday shifts (not guaranteed). The department for this role is Production, and it reports to the Production Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2-3 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide.
  • Ability to perform these operations using of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Loads ingredients into mixing machine hopper from conveyor, scales, or handtrucks, or directs other workers in performing this task.
  • Starts machine and adjusts valves to admit steam or cooling fluids to steam jacket or devices in mixing chamber to aid in blending and densifying mixture.
  • Operates machine and monitors assembly machine controls.
  • Ensures assembly machines are functioning properly and make required adjustments if the equipment malfunctions.
  • Inspect products for measurement and quality and separate defective products.
  • Maintain a safe and clean production area.
  • Other duties as assigned.
