About The Position

Under the direction of the Plant Supervisor or a shift supervisor, the employee will utilize a mold machine to produce a product line of container lids. This involves setting up proper molds, setting, checking, and maintaining proper temperatures, cycle times, and air and water flow rates. The operator will accurately measure and distribute proper material into the mold, checking vent conditions. After applying mold release and setting vice clamps, the operator will remove molded parts, inspecting them for quality. The role includes labeling parts with written labels or barcodes, including sequential numbers and dates. The operator will inspect molds and charges when required, and maintain a clean work station. Work assignments may rotate with other members of the machine crew. The operator will wear required safety gear and may be assigned other jobs by supervision. The essential job functions include producing the required product while maintaining quality and production standards, inspecting and changing molds when required, and reporting any abnormalities, injuries, or hazards to the supervisor immediately.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of molding process, heat, water and air controls
  • Ability to work on platform
  • Ability to bend, stoop, lift, grip, clamp, etc., in the performance of mold operation
  • Ability to lift, carry, stack and move bundles of product
  • Knowledge of and ability to safely inspect molds, heating and cooling sides, and mold machine in general
  • Ability to work in areas of high temperature for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to follow instructions

Responsibilities

  • Check vent(s) condition
  • Apply mold release
  • Set vice clamps in proper locations
  • Remove molded parts when cycle is complete
  • Inspect molded parts for quality
  • Label part with written label or bar code
  • Put in sequential number and date on labels
  • Inspect mold and charge when required
  • Keep work station clean
  • May rotate work assignments with other members of machine crew
  • Wear required safety gear
  • May be assigned other jobs by supervision
  • Produce required product, maintaining quality and production standards
  • Inspect and change molds when required
  • Report any abnormalities, injury or hazards to supervisor immediately
