About The Position

Sets up and operates 3- and 5-axis CNC mills and CNC lathes. The role involves reading blueprints or job orders, preparing machines and workpieces, operating equipment, and checking machined products for conformity to specifications. The operator maintains an orderly work area and follows company rules and safety policies.

Requirements

• Ability to read precision measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers.
• At least 1 year of previous CNC experience is preferred but not required if applicable on-the-job experience applies.

Responsibilities

• Set up, lay out, and operate various CNC lathes and/or mills.
• Read blueprints or job orders for product specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions, and determine the sequence of operations.
• Select, position, and secure tools in tool holders.
• Position and secure workpieces in holding devices, machine tables, chucks, centers, or fixtures.
• Operate controls to position tools and workpieces and set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
• Set up fixtures and start machines.
• Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers.
• Observe machine operation and verify that machined workpieces conform to specifications.
• Keep the work area clean and orderly.
• Follow company rules and safety policies.
• Discuss errors in diagrams or production orders with a supervisor or engineer to clarify assembly problems.
