About The Position

The Machine Operator operates mailroom packaging equipment and delivers newspaper bundles to the loading dock and pallet staging area using power equipment. The role also counts and prepares pre-print pieces for delivery and performs associated machine operator duties. The operator monitors equipment, makes necessary adjustments, coordinates maintenance, completes mailroom paperwork and count records, prepares inserts and pre-printed materials, and participates in equipment setup and cleanup. The position also includes maintaining a clean, obstacle-free work area and providing timely, professional service to internal and external customers.

Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout a shift.
Experience operating an electric pallet jack and other power lift equipment.
Strong basic math skills.
Effective communication skills.
High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of experience in an applicable industry.
Must be available for shift work and may be required to work various hours outside normal business hours.
Must be willing to submit to and pass the required checks and a full pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Monitor mailroom machinery and ensure proper equipment functionality, including stackers, tyers, and bottom-wrap equipment.
Adjust equipment as necessary, call maintenance when needed, and complete repair orders when appropriate.
Generate accurate mailroom paperwork and record all counts.
Receive and prepare freestanding inserts and pre-printed materials for packaging and shipping.
Participate in mailroom equipment setup and cleanup, and keep the work area clean and free of obstacles.
Represent SCNG positively and professionally as a customer service ambassador.
Respond to internal and external customer inquiries in a timely manner.
Deliver newspaper bundles to the loading dock and pallet staging area using power equipment.
Count and prepare pre-print pieces for delivery.
