About The Position

MCC is seeking Machine Operators to operate rewind and turret machines in its label manufacturing operation. The Slitter takes master label rolls from the Rewind Feeder and transforms them into rolls matching specific customer orders, ready for shipping. Experience is not required, though it is a bonus. Day and night shifts are available, with a 2-2-3 rotating schedule: one week of working two days, taking two days off, then working three days; the next week of taking two days off, working two days, then taking three days off. This two-week cycle repeats continuously.

Requirements

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide to figure label counts and conversions, including using American units of money, weight, volume, and distance.
• Ability to use simple Windows-based applications.
• Ability to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to meet the stated physical and vision demands of the position.

Responsibilities

• Set up the rewind machine to cut and rewind the specified counts for customer orders.
• Run orders, complete core labels to identify each order, and stack orders on carts.
• Keep orders separated by size, city, UPC, or plant numbers.
• Check rolls for misprinting while running and report errors to the pressman and supervisor.
• Cut out bad labels on rolls and splice rolls.
• Direct errors to the rework area.
• Rotate through the rework area to rework bad rolls.
• Clean the rewind machine or turret machine as needed.
• Operate the turret machine.
• Perform miscellaneous duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
