About The Position

The Machine Operator ensures machines are clean, organized, and operating according to standard operating procedures. This role requires basic ice cream knowledge and the ability to understand the 'why' behind processes, not just the 'how'. The operator is responsible for the correct use, storage, and setup of all equipment, and for effective handovers with Maintenance and the next shift, reporting all faults and issues. The primary goal is to drive the production process to ensure products meet customer specifications, quality, and food safety standards, while meeting targeted outputs through effective control of the manufacturing process. This role also emphasizes effective communication, maintaining health and safety requirements, and promoting a positive safety culture. Operators are expected to embody the company culture of ownership and continuous improvement, coordinating the day-to-day efforts of the local work team, including breaks, lunches, and rotations. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Aptitude for automated mechanical processes with good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, math, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work multiple shifts and/or schedules.
  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • One-year related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machines to standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure machines are clean, organized, and operating correctly.
  • Use limited water when cleaning with the 'clean as you go' principle.
  • Ensure effective hand over with Maintenance and the next shift, reporting all faults and issues.
  • Drive the production process to meet customer specifications, quality, and food safety standards.
  • Ensure production meets targeted outputs through effective control of the manufacturing process.
  • Communicate effectively with the entire team.
  • Ensure health and safety requirements are fully met and a positive safety culture is maintained.
  • Coordinate local work team's day to day efforts, controlling breaks, lunches, and rotations.
  • De-kit the line and ensure all packaging is returned to the warehouse.
  • Ensure the line is checked after cleaning and all tools are stored correctly.
  • Ensure no stagnant water is left in any equipment.
