A person operating a Formax Progressive National Header should have a combination of mechanical aptitude, machine setup capability, quality awareness, and safe manufacturing practices. As a National header machine operator, you’ll be part of our team located in Elyria, OH. You’ll get to: Ability to start, run, monitor, and shut down a progressive header safely and efficiently. Ability to read part drawings, specifications, tolerances, and work instructions. Experience installing, aligning and adjusting dies, punches, cutters, and transfer components for proper part formation. Ability to identify and correct issues such as misfeeds, tool wear, dimensional variation, jams, and abnormal machine behavior. Skill in using calipers, micrometers, gauges, comparators, and other inspection tools to verify part quality. Understanding of first-piece inspection, in-process checks, SPC/basic process control, and defect identification. Familiarity with wire stock, lubrication, feed systems, and material flow requirements for cold heading operations. Ability to perform basic machine care such as cleaning, lubrication checks, inspection of wear points, and reporting maintenance needs. Understanding of cycle rates, scrap reduction, uptime, and changeover efficiency. Knowledge of lockout/tagout, guarding, PPE, pinch-point awareness, and safe operation of high-speed forming equipment. Ability to maintain tight tolerances and detect small changes that could affect product quality or tool life. Ability to coordinate with setup technicians, quality personnel, maintenance, and supervisors to resolve production issues. Perform daily maintenance on machines with input from an experienced operator. Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized workspace. Follow all health and safety regulations. Perform other related duties as assigned.
