About The Position

The Machine Operator II is responsible for accurately and consistently using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to execute production tasks. This role involves receiving daily work assignments, reporting deviations, actively participating in status meetings, and identifying opportunities for waste elimination and Kaizen improvements. The operator will also engage in 5S routines, seek cross-training opportunities, and utilize downtime for learning and improvement activities.

Requirements

  • High School or GED minimum.
  • 2-3 years of experience from the manufacturing environment (machines, equipment, jigs, fixtures, measuring instruments etc.).
  • Able to read drawings, blueprints, manufacturing orders etc.
  • Intermediate Computer Skills.
  • Be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Shall be able read Safety Data Sheets for the Aerosols, coolants etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing Technician I, II preferred.
  • Crane & Forklift certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Receive daily work assignments from the Team Leader/Team Manager and execute production according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Accurately and consistently use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hand gloves, and uniforms.
  • Report any deviations (safety, quality, parts, equipment) immediately to Status Boards and update the Team Leader/Team Manager.
  • Actively participate in Daily Status Board Meetings, explaining deviations and proposing solutions.
  • Review and suggest improvements for Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Identify and drive Kaizen improvements for waste elimination (time, motion, transportation, inventories).
  • Engage in daily and weekly 5S routines to achieve and sustain high 5S standards.
  • Seek cross-training opportunities within different manufacturing processes and identify value-adding activities.
  • Use downtime efficiently to learn new processes and implement improvements from status board activities.
  • Stop the production process in case of safety, quality, or environmental deviations.
  • Highlight problems and deviations.
  • Initiate and run problem resolution and improvement activities.
  • Communicate with Support Functions (Quality, Maintenance, Order Planning, Warehouse) as needed.
