About The Position

Blow Mold Operator coworkers efficiently, effectively and safely operate the blow mold machines and other support equipment. Operators ensure high quality finished products are being produced and meeting production volumes for our customers, while working in a fast-paced and quick changing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, some college, technical or vocational education preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing work experience is preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills are required.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Recognizes and understands number and values, including data entry into database.
  • Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates schedule flexibility for coverage for vacations and other absences.
  • Must have good computer skills and ability to learn Amcor systems – SAP experience is helpful.
  • Good attention to detail including ability to feel and visually recognize product and quality defects.
  • Capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, high quality manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret and carry out both simple and complex instructions.
  • Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions / judgement calls based on the situation at hand.
  • Able to stand and walk up to 12-hours on concrete or other hard surfaces.
  • Occasionally required to lift/carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift, bend and twist repetitively during shift.
  • Must be able to bend under 4-foot bottle conveyor.
  • Frequent and effective dexterity in fingers and hands to operate hand tools.
  • Proficient hand / eye coordination to operate equipment and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Follows production schedules and communicates any changes to team members when necessary.
  • Start-up and shut down of blow mold machine and supporting equipment.
  • Operates, enters and maintains production process on blow mold machines and supporting equipment while starting-up and during production.
  • Visually identifies bottle quality defects and corrects production processes as needed to ensure quality specifications are met.
  • Possesses troubleshooting ability.
  • Monitors production flow and preform level in hoppers, loads and dumps performs as needed to keep production running
  • Performs quality control testing using appropriate measuring devices.
  • Communicates machinery/equipment issues to Maintenance Technician and the team without delay.
  • Assists Maintenance with machine/equipment repairs, mold changeovers, and preventive maintenance work.
  • Cleans and/or sanitizes blow molder during changeovers – inside, outside and under.
  • Follows end-of-run procedures - completes profile sheet, empty/clean hoppers, and removal of all previous run performs and bottles from blow molders through s-elevators.
  • Follows and maintains company GMP / HACCP / Product Safety standards and completes housekeeping requirements in work areas.
  • Completes required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Securely uses company computer system for preform consumption, quality test entries and scrap processing.
  • Covers vacations and other absences according to Kenosha local attendance policy.
  • Operates forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Accepts and performs other duties/changes to position as plant and production needs require.
  • Safety conscious and adheres to all safety rules and aspects of machine operation - including PPE, lock out/tag out, machine guarding, uses safety equipment as required to perform job duties, and more.
  • Carry out responsibilities in a safe manner that will not create a hazard to my health and safety, or the health and safety of my fellow coworkers.
  • Assist management to help create a safe working environment by communicating any safety concerns and making suggestions for proactive safety improvements.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, near misses and/or injuries immediately to my Team Lead or Management.
  • Follow company medical and first aid procedures.
  • Properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Follow all Amcor Kenosha’s safety policies and procedures.
  • Set a good example for other employees to follow.
  • Assist management in challenging and improving the health and safety program in a forward direction ensuring safety continues to improve and be at the forefront of my actions while at work.
  • All employees of Amcor Kenosha have the right to refuse “Unsafe Work”.
  • Coworkers have the right to hold for inspection, any product that they feel does not meet customer, company or product safety specifications.
  • Those coworkers with authorized training can shut down/stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any coworker’s health and safety.
  • Stop production for unacceptable quality or product safety concern.
  • Quarantine out-of-specification products, materials or supplies.
  • Contact any member of Management without fear of reprisal concerning questions, suggestions, or complaints regarding quality, working conditions or job environment.
