About The Position

This role is for a Machine Operator focused on Injection and Blow Molding. The primary purpose of this position is to operate and maintain blow molding and injection molding machinery, as well as associated downstream equipment such as wrappers, strappers, and palletizers. The operator will be responsible for ensuring high-quality production output that meets or exceeds customer expectations through precise machine operation, quality testing, and necessary adjustments. This role requires basic mechanical skills, an understanding of machine functions, and the ability to perform short-cycle, repetitive tasks in a set pattern.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to recognize and understand numbers, values, and enter this information into an on-line database accurately.
  • Strong mathematical ability is essential.
  • Ability to visually distinguish fine variations in color and other visual defects.
  • Proficient hand/eye coordination to operate equipment.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions and independent judgment calls based on the situation at hand.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software.
  • Ability to work all shifts and required overtime.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 70 pounds on a continual basis.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for up to 11 hours per shift on a concrete floor.
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 120 lbs.
  • Must be able to frequently carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to frequently push/pull up to 900 lbs. using a hydraulic hand jack.
  • Must frequently squat/bend/kneel/reach/etc.
  • Must be able to climb stairs/ladders up to 15 feet high.
  • Must be able to lift/reach overhead with a 7 pound top frame off stack and place on bulk pallet configuration approximately every 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Must be able to reach across palletizer bed 54” to 60” to straighten/pick up fallen bottles continuously when operating bulk palletizer.

Nice To Haves

  • Some post-secondary education preferred (i.e., Technical or Vocational education).
  • Valid forklift license based on job duties a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Abide by all Amcor’s Safety and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Maintain standard production objectives through proper machine operation and accurate record-keeping.
  • Make necessary machine adjustments to maintain consistent machine operation and product quality according to customer specifications (e.g., bottle height, volumetric, top-load, visual defects, section weights, finish dimensions).
  • Perform quality assurance tests using appropriate measuring devices and basic math skills, entering data into the computer system.
  • Stop production due to quality issues.
  • Stop machines/production to communicate machine or equipment problems and breakdowns to Shift Supervisor/Shift Lead or Shift Maintenance Mechanic.
  • Follow all established safety rules and guidelines.
  • Understand and communicate all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and managers/supervisors.
  • Properly use all personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain housekeeping of all assigned areas, applying Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Actively participate in Quality training and Good Manufacturing Practice meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the Shift Supervisor/Production Manager.
