About The Position

Smithfield Foods is seeking Machine Operators to join their team. This role is crucial in delivering safe, high-quality food by performing essential production tasks and supporting coworkers. The ideal candidate will be reliable, have attention to detail, and a strong work ethic to help meet standards for safety, quality, and teamwork. This position contributes to a positive work environment, helps maintain a safe and efficient production line, and ensures products reach consumers responsibly. Machine Operators will work with meat cutting/packaging machinery and other equipment to process meat products. This role requires technical knowledge of computerized equipment, good hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail. Machine Operators must be able to work their scheduled shift and may be required to work overtime depending on production demands. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

• Ability to work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
• Ability to work with a knife (if trained).
• Ability to work in cold areas (approximately 20-40 degrees) and/or warm areas (over 100 degrees).
• Ability to work in an environment that is wet and humid.
• Ability to work while wearing a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes.
• Ability to work in a noisy environment using personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to work around strong smells/odors.
• Ability to climb/move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways and platforms.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shift.
• Ability to walk long distances.
• May require certification in order to operate various pieces of equipment for the position.
• Ability to perform repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to perform single lifting of heavy objects which can weigh up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to lift objects using mechanical assistance.
