About The Position

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Machine Operator I to join their Carbon Brake Team in Santa Fe Springs, California. This role involves learning carbon manufacturing processes and operating machinery to produce carbon/carbon brake disks for aircraft. The position is onsite at the Santa Fe Springs facility and offers opportunities for overtime. The team environment is collaborative, and employees are expected to learn and thrive within it.

Requirements

  • Typically, a HS Diploma or GED is required.
  • 6 months of experience working on machining equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced in basic computer skills.
  • Some experience in manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with forklifts and/or pallet jacks.
  • Experience setting-up equipment for specific processes.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) rules, maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions (WI), and technical drawings meticulously to guarantee consistent quality and safety.
  • Identify and report any mechanical or safety concerns promptly to prevent disruptions and maintain operational integrity.
  • Strictly follow written procedures to maintain safety and to ensure quality.
  • Utilize standard measuring instruments and scales to ensure all parts meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
  • Operate various CNC lathes and mills.
  • Operate multiple machines at one time.
  • Change inserts/tooling out from machine.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, and hand measurement techniques.
  • Read technical drawings and set up machines in alignment with blueprints.
  • Apply basic to intermediate computer skills for various tasks, including data entry and process monitoring.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
