About The Position

The Machine Operator I works under the supervision of the Production Supervisor and may perform a variety of production tasks. Duties include treating process water, inspecting tile, operating a strapping machine, conducting tile quality checks, packaging tile, and cleaning equipment and work areas. The role requires following Westlake safety policies and procedures, maintaining regular attendance, and having scheduling flexibility. The listed rate is $21.31 per hour; compensation may vary based on market location and job-related knowledge, experience, and skills.

Requirements

• Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow simple instructions.
• Six months to one year of color or tile manufacturing experience.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and efficiently multitask.
• Ability to complete repetitive movements.
• Ability to lift, move, or transport items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to move or traverse throughout the facilities.

Nice To Haves

• Six months of forklift driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and Procedures.
• Maintain regular attendance and timeliness, and demonstrate scheduling flexibility.
• Treat process water by adding flocculent to disperse solids; check pH before discharging water to the city; follow the SOP; and log daily discharges with supervisor approval.
• Inspect tile on the dry side and manage the sealer area, including cleaning the sealer booth.
• Run the strapping machine to secure pallets of tile.
• Perform tile quality checks and package tile at the kiln exit.
• Clean equipment and work areas daily.
• Notify the supervisor or lead person of identified problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
