As a Machine Operator I at Weatherby, you'll support the machining department by running equipment, learning multiple operations, and ensuring parts meet our quality standards. The Machine Operator I is responsible for operating manufacturing equipment, supporting machining operations, and performing routine inspections. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. Operators ensure machines run safely and efficiently, maintain a clean work area, and support production goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One or more years of experience operating machinery in a production environment preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude to operate machines and perform minor repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents including safety rules, operating instructions, and work orders.
  • Basic math skills and ability to use measuring instruments.
  • English written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Work is on site in Sheridan, WY.
  • Pre-employment testing includes drug and alcohol testing, physical requirements, and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Load, operate, and adjust manufacturing equipment such as polishing, sanding, cleaning, coating, and bead blasting.
  • Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed.
  • Perform inspections to ensure surface finishes and dimensions meet specifications.
  • Perform required quality checks consistently, ensuring parts meet standards and helping the team reduce scrap.
  • Use hand tools to set up and adjust equipment.
  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions to leaders.
  • Complete daily production logs and documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Learn multiple operations and follow work instructions.
  • Support team goals and production schedules.
