Machine Operator/Hi Vision Coating Technician

About The Position

This role is responsible for operating and maintaining machinery in the AR/HV department, ensuring lenses are prepared and coated according to standard operating procedures. The technician will perform inspections, cleaning, machine setup, and basic maintenance, while also contributing to production goals and record-keeping. The position requires attention to detail, the ability to work with automated equipment, and adherence to safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Able to read and write English Language well
  • Able and willing to work as a team
  • Basic Math
  • Must be able to work Overtime, Saturdays and Sundays, and some holidays when needed
  • Good hand-to-eye coordination
  • Able to analyze and record yield data accurately
  • Experience or knowledge working with automated equipment
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Work without constant supervision
  • Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time
  • Computer knowledge
  • Regularly required to stand and use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to walk
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • During maintenance, employee required to squat, stretch, twist, bend, and be able to work inside tight areas
  • Closed-toe shoe required with heel support
  • Must wear safety glasses, gloves, a face mask, and a lab coat as required by the task

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the optical industry as it relates to ophthalmic lenses is desired

Responsibilities

  • Follow all SOP’s and the best practices for the AR/HV department
  • Ensure lenses are clean of dust and debris
  • Inspection, sorting, washing, and prepping lenses for AR coating
  • Setting up lenses into domes, setting domes into AR machine
  • Machine maintenance, including cleaning and scrubbing of exterior and interior machine parts
  • Help routing work
  • Maintains workstation clean and organized
  • Maintains hourly production goals and yield
  • Able to work on computer-controlled equipment
  • Be able to multi-task, as required by work flow or Lab Manager
  • Handling flammable/corrosive materials daily
  • Light record keeping on machine maintenance
  • Maintain cleanliness of the lab
  • Perform duties as requested by Lab Manager or Supervisor
  • Maintain the machine clean inside and out
  • Maintain workstation and work areas clean and organized
  • Prepping machine parts for maintenance
  • Ensure rings and sectors are clean twice a day
