About The Position

Sysco is the global leader in foodservice distribution. We are looking for talented, hard-working individuals to join our team. This role is responsible for leading the cut machine crew and keeping the machines running as efficiently as possible. They also prioritize the order of products to be cut to meet demands. The ideal candidate will have experience operating saws, portioning subprimals into steaks by weight, and merchandising subprimals in their entirety. This role requires the ability to perform mathematical functions to ensure accurate weight and size products, work in a cold/wet environment, and possess basic computer capabilities.

Requirements

  • Able to operate saw safely.
  • Recognize portion weights visually.
  • Responsible for individual yield and throughput (lb.).
  • In-depth cutting knowledge.
  • Basic computer capabilities.
  • Ability to perform mathematical functions to ensure accurate weight and size products.
  • Knowledge of products.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Leads team when applicable.
  • Basic ability to read tickets and special requests.
  • Ability to recognize cuts of meat.
  • Able to write numbers and basic descriptions.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the cut machine crew and keeping the machines running as efficiently as possible.
  • Prioritizing the order of products to be cut to meet demands.
  • Setting machines up based on a specific product to ensure the proper program is used to maximize yields.
  • Adjusting weight and thickness parameters if necessary.
  • Reading work orders and informing machine staff on what item is coming next including the piece count needed.
  • Operation of saws-Portion subprimal into steaks by weight using a band saw.
  • Serving as a single meat cutter for the line.
  • Merchandising of subprimal in their entirety.
  • Programming machines to maximize value and meet customer specifications.
  • Performing basic troubleshooting.
  • Leading team when applicable.
  • Yield testing.
  • Maintaining throughput (lbs.).
  • Basic ability to read tickets and special requests.
  • Ability to recognize cuts of meat.
  • Able to write numbers and basic descriptions.
  • Able to work in a cold/wet environment fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform mathematical functions to ensure accurate weight and size products.
