About The Position

Sysco is the global leader in foodservice distribution. We are looking for talented, hard-working individuals to join our team. This role is for a Machine Operator responsible for leading the cut machine crew and ensuring machines run efficiently. The operator will prioritize product cutting orders to meet demands, set up machines for specific products, and maximize yields. Responsibilities include operating saws to portion subprimals into steaks by weight, merchandising subprimals, performing basic troubleshooting, and leading a team when applicable. The role requires in-depth cutting knowledge, yield testing, maintaining throughput, and basic communication skills for tickets and special requests. The ability to work in a cold/wet, fast-paced environment and perform mathematical functions for accurate weight and size is essential.

Requirements

  • Able to operate saw safely.
  • Recognize portion weights visually.
  • Responsible for individual yield and throughput (lb.).
  • In-depth cutting knowledge.
  • Basic ability to read tickets and special requests.
  • Ability to recognize cuts of meat.
  • Able to write numbers and basic descriptions.
  • Able to work in a cold/wet environment.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform mathematical functions to ensure accurate weight and size products.
  • Light, moderate, and/or heavy required.
  • Knowledge of products.
  • Basic computer capabilities.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the cut machine crew and keep machines running efficiently.
  • Prioritize the order of products to be cut to meet demands.
  • Set up machines based on a specific product to ensure the proper program is used to maximize yields.
  • Adjust weight and thickness parameters if necessary.
  • Read work orders and inform machine staff on what item is coming next, including the piece count needed.
  • Operate saws to portion subprimal into steaks by weight.
  • Serve as a single meat cutter for the line.
  • Merchandise subprimals in their entirety.
  • Program machines to maximize value and meet customer specifications.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Lead team when applicable.
  • Conduct yield testing.
  • Maintain throughput (lbs.).
  • Read tickets and special requests.
  • Recognize cuts of meat.
  • Write numbers and basic descriptions.
  • Work in a cold/wet environment.
  • Perform mathematical functions to ensure accurate weight and size products.
