About The Position

This role involves operating cut-off machines, ensuring product quality, performing maintenance, and maintaining accurate production records. The operator is responsible for setting up and running machinery, monitoring output for specified tolerances, and reporting any non-conforming parts. Daily preventative maintenance and timely reporting of machine issues are also key responsibilities. The position requires cooperation with quality assurance to ensure parts meet standards and accurate record-keeping of production, scrap, and material usage. Additionally, the operator will handle wire re-weighing, scrap preparation, and maintaining a clean work area for the next shift.

Requirements

  • Ability to set-up and operate cut-off machines.
  • Attention to detail in verifying wire type and color code.
  • Skill in monitoring, measuring, and visually examining output.
  • Proficiency in reporting non-conforming parts and machine problems.
  • Capability to complete daily preventative maintenance.
  • Accuracy in record-keeping for production, scrap, and material usage.
  • Cooperation with quality assurance personnel.
  • Ability to re-weigh wire and return it to proper stock locations.
  • Physical ability to cut scrap wire.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean work area.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operation of all cut-off machines in accordance with accepted standards.
  • Verification of wire type by checking wire tag and color code before running production.
  • Constant monitoring, measuring, and visual examination of machine output to ensure parts are within specified tolerances.
  • Reporting any non-conforming parts found to the supervisor for disposition.
  • Completing daily preventative maintenance duties as defined by the supervisor.
  • Reporting all machine problems to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Keeping accurate and complete records of production, work-in-process, scrap, and material usage.
  • Cooperating with the Quality Assurance Technician and making corrections as warranted to assure quality parts.
  • Re-weighing wire when returning it to stock and assuring it is returned to the proper location.
  • Cutting up large pieces or coils of scrap wire before putting it in the dumpster.
  • Assuring the machines and work area are clean for the next shift.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
