About The Position

Under the supervision of the Superintendent, the Machine Operator, Clay operates, monitors, and maintains grinding pans in the Dry Pan area. The position supports and demonstrates the company's Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation, and Financial Success, and performs other related duties as assigned. The role requires regular attendance and the ability to work overtime and weekends as needed. It is a regular, full-time position in a plant environment with loud noise, moving machinery and belts, dust, dirt, outdoor weather conditions, work at heights, and extreme temperatures. Appropriate personal protective equipment, including a clean respirator, must be worn.

Requirements

On-the-job training is required to perform the duties.
Must be able to obtain forklift certification from Interstate Brick.
Ability to communicate effectively with peers, customers, and superiors.
Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
Basic mechanical skills and physical dexterity.
Ability to operate heavy machinery, a forklift, and other equipment required for the duties.
Ability to follow simple instructions.
Predictable and regular attendance.
Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Must be able to perform repetitive lifting or moving of 20–40 pounds and lift or move up to 75 pounds.
Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including a clean respirator.

Responsibilities

Operate all grinding pans via the control room.
Clean screen chutes and pans during operation and changeovers.
Clean the bottoms of pans, grease pans and motors, and adjust or replace liners.
Monitor gauges on grinding pans.
Check and clean hoppers.
Verify that belts are running straight.
Clean the work area, including sweeping and shoveling dirt.
Complete required paperwork, including recording tonnage and clay use.
Perform maintenance and repairs on grinding pans, except for electrical maintenance.
Maintain the work area according to company cleanliness and safety specifications.
Attend safety meetings, follow company and government safety rules, and ensure hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the company or its designated representative.
